What's the weather going to be like?
Normally, day temperatures in Las Vegas will be in the 60s, night
temperatures will be in the 30s.
What airport do I fly in/out of?
Las Vegas -
McCarran International Airport
[LAS]
What about transportation?
Shuttles and taxies are available at the Las Vegas -
McCarran International Airport
outside of the baggage area for transportation between the hotel and
the airport. Please expect to wait 20-30 minutes in the taxi queue
which may be quicker in reaching the hotel but a slightly more
expensive option (~ $20 each way); shuttles stop at various hotels
along the strip, longer ride but less expensive (~ $5 each way).
Do I have to have my name on my uniform?
In all three weapons, each fencer's last name must be printed legibly by hand or machine in dark blue capital letters not more than 10 cm high: either (1) on the back of the uniform or lame between the shoulders; (2) on the front or side of the thigh of the "rear" leg; or (3) on a piece of fabric or lame material that is firmly sewn to the uniform in such a way that it will not detach during fencing or catch the opponent's point. Fabric attached to the uniform must be the same color as the part of the uniform to which it is attached. Conductive materials must be attached in such a way as to not alter the conductivity of the metallic vest or jacket. NAMES PRINTED ON TAPE ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
Do I have to be a USFA member?
Proof of membership in USFA, FIE or in your home country's
federation is acceptable for this tournament.
Can I fence in more than one event in one day?
Yes,
but bouts will not be held for you.
Can I turn down the prize of casino chips and
retain my NCAA eligibility?
Absolutely, please talk
with your coach before you fence.

Point standings will be updated
after the NAC in December for all events.

you register, not when you pay.

your name, weapon earning the new classification, date, location of
the tournament and website where results can be found.

submitted in writing to

What about the Saturday Night Fights?
Saturday Night Fights (SNF) are the exhibition bouts generally
between the winner of the previous year's SNF and the gold medalist
in the individual event from the current year. In the event
that the SNF winner is not available, the exhibition bout will take
place between the the gold and silver medalists from the individual
event. The winner of the exhibition bout receives casino
chips. Formats are announced that evening. SNF is free
for all spectators, there will be a raffle and cash bar available.
Formal attire is optional.
Why are the entry fees the same as a USFA event?
Many of you may have noticed that the registration fees are
the same as the NACs. This is due to the much higher cost of the
venue and tournament officials. To insure a quality tournament we need
quality tournament officials and thus we must pay per diems commensurate
with the USFA, which were raised over 150%. In order for us to do this we must
maintain the same entry fees as the USFA. The Duel is sponsored by Southern Nevada Fencing a non-profit
organization. Our
goal is to break even on this event.
Who is Southern Nevada Fencing?

is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered with the
United
States Fencing Association (USFA) and is dedicated to the art
and science of fencing.
